FUN – Food Uniting Neighbors

First Christian Church has partnered with Food Uniting Neighbors to build gardens on the front lawn of the church campus. The harvests will be donated to area food banks in the local community. For more information and an opportunity to volunteer click HERE

Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) Service Projects

Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) exists to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries; and to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the Church of Jesus Christ. CWF is open to all women of the church. CWF sponsors many service projects throughout the year:

• Blanket Sundays in January. A $5.00 contribution buys a warm blanket for victims of disasters. The money is sent to Church World Service.
• Mitten Tree for the Seven Corners Children’s Center in December.
• Please continue to save Campbell’s Soup Labels for NBA Woodhaven in Columbia, MO a service unit of the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church, and Pull Top Rings from all cans to support Special Olympics at Mark Twain Middle School.
• We will continue to collect items for the Pediatric Unit at Fairfax Hospital: Baby rattles; Play Doh (small containers only); Crayons (24 count boxes only); Bubble Liquid (small bottles only); New Teddy Bears (September Fall Reception).

Disciples Men

The Men’s Group meets for breakfast on the third Saturday of each month and participates in various service projects throughout the year.

Global Ministries

Global Ministries is a mission shared by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ  (UCC). The fundamental mission commitment is to a shared life in Christ, and to an ecumenical global sharing of resources and prophetic vision of a just, sustainable, and peaceful world order, joining with God’s concern for the poor and oppressed.

Global Ministries also supports the work of other organizations who do Justice and Advocacy work around the world. As a Global Mission Church we: Pray regularly for global partners and mission personnel; Educate our members about global issues; Seek justice for the least of these in the world; Receive the gifts of the global church; Give to the work of global mission; Sends our members to share Good News; and Grow in sharing the story of God’s mission around the world.

Justice League

God’s calls us, in Micah 6:8, to “do justice.” One part of doing justice is advocating for laws and policies that do not unfairly burden segments of our population. Members of the Justice League attend Ecumenical Advocacy Days each spring, to meet with people of faith from all over the country to learn how we can bring about positive change.

Culmore Clinic
