Cathy Brooks is a Commissioned Minister and is the Associate Minister of Pastoral Care and Healing at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Falls Church, Virginia.
When she married Dick, she joined him as a member of the Disciples of Christ and has been working at First Christian Church since 1974. She has focused on Christian Education serving as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and Director of Vacation Bible School, and served as Christian Education chair. She is also active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF). She has served as an Elder for many years and as chair of the Elders. Cathy has been interested in healing ministry for about 15 years. As a team Cathy and Dick offer a prayer ministry at First Christian Church including a monthly Healing Prayer Service as well as prayer for individuals before and after worship services.
Cathy has been active in church all of her life. She grew up in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and started teaching Sunday School after confirmation at the age of 15.
Cathy worked as a medical technologist for the United States Public Health Services Hospital in Baltimore in both traditional patient care and research. While her children were in school, she was a full-time home maker and heavily involved with the PTA. Later she worked for the Drug Enforcement Administration writing drug regulations.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Mt. St. Agnes College (now Loyola) and a Masters of Science in Pathology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed the first course in Clinical Pastoral Education for chaplains at Sibley Hospital.
