Seekers Class
The Seekers class is for adults of any age who want to closely read the Bible and seriously reflect on what their religion is. Click the image to the left to read the class brochure. The group’s most recent discussions were based on a careful reading of the authentic letters of the Apostle Paul. Earlier sessions covered the Book of Genesis, the Book of Revelation, the Book of Job, and the theological and philosophical issue of theodicy. If you’re interested in what was done in those sessions, please contact Tom Hone.
Koinonia Class
One of the adult Sunday school classes that we offer is called Koinonia. Koinonia is a transliterated form of the Greek word for communion. This group meets weekly from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Sundays prior to the 10:15 service. The class is open minded and welcomes fresh perspectives and questions. The class participants and facilitators are all in different places on their journey with Christ. This diversity provides a comfortable learning environment.
The co-teachers for this class are Jim Almand and Phil Gilliland, alternating on a weekly basis. We are currently using the adult version of “Seasons of the Spirit”, which follows the Revised Common Lectionary. One of the scriptures is used as the primary vehicle for the lesson each Sunday. The other three scriptures are used as the teacher feels is necessary. The teacher can use the suggested text and questions from the material, or can improvise on the focus scriptures. Anything goes, with the aim to work through the scriptures so that they enlighten the participants about how they apply to our Christian based lives.
